On July 15th, 2010 Erikson Music was appointed exclusive Canadian distributor of Breedlove Guitars, a very prestigious brand of acoustic instruments that includes guitars, mandolins, ukuleles, and lap steel guitars. Breedlove offers a large range of instruments produced 100 percent by hand by crafts people at its Bend, Oregon factory as well as a selection of acoustic guitars built in a premium guitar factory in Korea. As well they offer full custom shop designs out of their Oregon factory.

CMEC Founding President Passes Away At Age 82

George Bishop, the Coalition For Music Education In Canada (CMEC)’s founding President died peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2010. Bishop has spent 60 years in the MI business as President of Turner Musical Instruments, J.M. Greene, and Bishop Music. He finished his career with Long & McQuade as the company’s Educational Manager.

Drake's 2010 North American Tour To Support SickKids

Grammy-nominated recording artist Drake has announced details and dates for his 2010 North American tour, Light Dreams & Nightmares Tour.

Drake’s charitable partner for The Light Dreams & Nightmares Tour dates will be SickKids Foundation, with a portion of proceeds from every concert ticket sold going to the Friends of Music Therapy Endowment Fund at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada. This fund supports the delivery of the Music Therapy Program at SickKids to its most critically ill patients including children being treated for cancer and organ transplant, and those in palliative care. Erikson Music To Distribute Nord Keyboards

Pro Audio Legend Keith Barr Passed Away August 24th

Pro audio legend Keith Barr--founder of Alesis and numerous other companies--died on August 24 at the age of 61, felled by an apparent heart attack in his Vancouver, WA home.

Characterized by those who knew him as more an engineer and inventor than a businessman, Barr nonetheless founded a number of companies over his career, starting with guitar effect pedal manufacturer MXR Innovations in 1973.
