Hal Leonard announced that effective immediately it has acquired Schaum Publications, the publisher of educational piano materials. The joint announcement was made by Larry Morton, president of Hal Leonard, and Wesley Schaum, president of Schaum Publications.
Schaum Publications, Inc. was founded in 1959 by John W. Schaum. The company publishes scores of quality piano materials integrating method, theory, technique, and repertoire into a comprehensive education resources. The Schaum catalog includes over 700 titles including the bestselling Fingerpowerý line of products that have been used by tens of thousands of piano students over the years. John’s son Wesley has been running the operation since 1989 and came to Hal Leonard when he decided it was time for a change.
SFM MI has been appointed as the exclusive North American distributor of One Control products. Founded in 2010, One Control is a Japanese manufacturer of pedal switchers, power supplies, and products that allow musicians to fine-tune their pedal board.
One Control’s primary line of guitar pedal switchers ranges from a one-channel true bypass looper to the company’s flagship 10-channel programmable switcher with MIDI capabilities, the Crocodile Tail Loop. One Control has also enjoyed a longstanding collaboration with guitar effects designer Bjorn Juhl, who designed its series of BJF Guitar and Bass effects.

Knowles has worked for Jam Industries for over 15 years and has previously held the position of GM of Korg Canada. During his tenure as general manager, the company says he demonstrated a propensity for implementing processes to facilitate procedures and has acquired the necessary knowledge to take the department and his team to the next level.
Music Heals has announced the support of Hard Rock Casino Vancouver in a new initiative that will increase access to music therapy for seniors living in the Tri-Cities area. Hard Rock Casino Vancouver has committed to donating $6,000 to Music Heals, which will add hundreds hours of music therapy programming at a facility in Coquitlam, BC throughout 2017.
Throughout 2017, Epiphone will celebrate its 60th anniversary as part of the Gibson Family of Musical Instruments, its one time rival and now partner in instrument design and manufacturing for over half a century.
On May 10, 1957, Gibson President Ted McCarty – a longtime fan of Epiphone – purchased the Epiphone Company along with its tooling, parts inventory, copyrights, and designs from the last surviving members of the Stathopoulo family, who were retiring from the music business.
