The 2016 Summer NAMM show returned last week to Music City Center in Nashville, offering a platform for buyers, exhibitors, and professionals to engage with the latest products, learn new business strategies, connect with other industry peers, and to position their businesses for the second half of the year.
“We are proud of our NAMM members who came to Nashville eager to learn, to make new business connections and to build deeper connections with their current partners, all in an effort to proactively plan for a strong fall and holiday season,” says Joe Lamond, NAMM president and CEO. “The industry continues to change rapidly and in my opinion, the clues to success were available to forward-thinking members on the show floor this year in Nashville.”

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has announced the final selections for 2016’s Top 100 Dealer Awards. Now in its sixth year, the Top 100 Dealer Awards spotlight the very best industry retailers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their stores, neighborhoods and customers, and play an important role in acting as music making ambassadors in their communities.
“The Top 100 Dealer program has certainly grown a bit since it was launched a few years ago. Our retail members who enter the competition are passionate about their businesses and really know how to tell their stories of service to their customers and their communities,” says NAMM President and CEO, Joe Lamond. “In my opinion, we owe a debt of gratitude to all our retail members, through their tireless efforts, they are providing access to music products and services which help to foster the next generation of music makers.”

Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound organizers report that nearly 110,000 people from 130 countries visited the Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre in Germany over the course of the two trade shows, which took place April 4-9, 2016. This is slightly up from 108,409 who registered for the events in 2015. A total of 2,043 exhibitors from 60 countries presented at the restructured fairs. Additionally, more than 20,000 music fans attended the 50-plus concerts of the Musikmesse Festival, which was held for the first time at over 30 locations concurrently with Musikmesse.

Organizers of the 2016 Musikmesse trade fair, which will be held April 7-10 in Frankfurt, Germany, are introducing new offers for retailers and distributors with the goal of strengthening the trade fair’s position as a business platform. They’ve also introduced a new thematic approach to the fair in hopes of enticing more visitor groups.

The 2016 NAMM Show, held Jan. 21-24 in Anaheim, CA, welcomed a record number of exhibitors and registrants as hundreds of new-to-NAMM companies paired with an increase in global interest.
“As we look at the record number of exhibiting brands, influx of new entrepreneurial spirit and attendance from 125 countries, the industry seems poised for vital growth and breakthroughs,” says NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond. “The NAMM Show is a reflection of our industry, not only where it is now, but even more importantly where it is heading next. NAMM members brought their A-game to Anaheim this week with creative, innovative, beautiful products. They also came with inquisitive minds, filling NAMM’s educational sessions all four days.”

Music China 2015 welcomed 80,468 visitors from 86 countries and regions and 1,782 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, according to organizers. The 12 per cent increase in the number of visitors and the high internationality profile rank as the major factors for the success of the show. Fiona Chiew, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. was pleased with the result and commented, “The exceptional result of Music China 2015 not only shows our leading position in Asia’s musical instrument industry, but also reflects the optimism of the industry towards Asia’s consumer markets amidst the challenging global economy this year.”
