Organizers of the 2016 Musikmesse trade fair, which will be held April 7-10 in Frankfurt, Germany, are introducing new offers for retailers and distributors with the goal of strengthening the trade fair’s position as a business platform. They’ve also introduced a new thematic approach to the fair in hopes of enticing more visitor groups.

The 2016 NAMM Show, held Jan. 21-24 in Anaheim, CA, welcomed a record number of exhibitors and registrants as hundreds of new-to-NAMM companies paired with an increase in global interest.
“As we look at the record number of exhibiting brands, influx of new entrepreneurial spirit and attendance from 125 countries, the industry seems poised for vital growth and breakthroughs,” says NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond. “The NAMM Show is a reflection of our industry, not only where it is now, but even more importantly where it is heading next. NAMM members brought their A-game to Anaheim this week with creative, innovative, beautiful products. They also came with inquisitive minds, filling NAMM’s educational sessions all four days.”

Music China 2015 welcomed 80,468 visitors from 86 countries and regions and 1,782 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, according to organizers. The 12 per cent increase in the number of visitors and the high internationality profile rank as the major factors for the success of the show. Fiona Chiew, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. was pleased with the result and commented, “The exceptional result of Music China 2015 not only shows our leading position in Asia’s musical instrument industry, but also reflects the optimism of the industry towards Asia’s consumer markets amidst the challenging global economy this year.”

NAMM stepped up to support the first China Conference on Music Education with the Chinese Society for Music Education (CSME) during October’s Music China. Music education experts from China and the U.S. provided insights into different methodologies, education theories, and current best practices in music education. A convened group of around 1,500 Chinese music educators, researchers, and post-graduate students participated in the first free national music education gathering.

The second annual IMSTA FESTA Toronto will head next Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Ryerson University and free registration is open. Presented by the International Music Software Trade Association (IMSTA), the IMSTA FESTA event are held annually in Toronto, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles and showcase the latest music-making and production technologies as well as educational seminars and keynotes speeches and Q&As.
This year’s event will feature a keynote presentation by legendary producers and engineer Jimmy Douglas (Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Al Green). Additionally, Canadian Musician Assistant Editor Michael Raine will be presenting a seminar on “Getting Your Message to the Media.” Other presentation and seminar topics will be “Composing for Visual Media,” “Dance Music Master Class,” and a “Cooking Beats” workshop.
