NAMM Elects New Executive Committee Member & Positions

NAMM Ex Com 2015The NAMM executive committee has welcomed Joel Menchey in his new role as secretary and honoured outgoing Chair Morton during the 2015 Summer NAMM show. The changing of the guard started Saturday, July 11 during the annual summer board meeting held in Nashville, TN.

Mark Goff, previously NAMM’s vice chair, will move into a new role as chair of NAMM’s Board of Directors. Goff is president of Paige’s Music, a school music retailer in Indianapolis, IN., which was founded in 1871. Goff joined the company in 1985 and purchased the business in 1999. “Like so many of my colleagues, NAMM has played a significant role in both my business and personal growth throughout my 30 years in the industry,” says Goff. “For that reason I am honoured and humbled to be elected chairman of NAMM’s board of directors and will work very hard to support NAMM’s mission of strengthening the industry and promoting music making to people of all ages.”


Sabian Launches New Education Network for Drum Teachers

In an effort to build a community that will provide important tools for drum educators, cymbal maker Sabian has just announced the launch of the Sabian Education Network (SEN). Headed up by renowned educator Joe Bergamini, SEN is meant to provide an inclusive forum for drum educators worldwide to exchange ideas and share skills.

SEN is open to all educators − from the private home studio teacher with a few students to a music school or educational institution. Sabian says educators who join SEN will get access to the SEN website, which hosts the SEN forum, resource library, and online events. SEN will also host live events throughout the world, featuring a panel of educators and drummers that will engage local teachers in an open exchange of ideas surrounding educational issues.

Music Group Acquires TC Group

Uli BehringerMusic Group has announced its acquisition of TC Group, one of the largest group of companies in the professional audio industry. Headquartered in Denmark, and with offices around the world, TC Group owns and manages brands such as Tannoy, Lab Gruppen, Lake, TC Electronics, TC Helicon, and TC Applied Technologies.

According to the company, the addition of Tannoy, Lab Gruppen, and Lake allows Music Group to round out its professional install and touring sound offerings alongside Midas, Klark Teknik, and Turbosound, while TC Electronics and TC Helicon complement Music Group’s Bugera guitar tube amplifier brand and Behringer prosumer division. The TC Applied Technologies company is invested in semiconductor designs, networking, and interface technology.


Michael Kelly Guitars Brand Sold to Original Company Founder

MK-1960s-SeriesThe original founder of Michael Kelly Guitars has acquired the brand from Hanser Music Group. The Florida-based group that is taking over Michael Kelly Guitars is led by the company’s original founder, Tracy Hoeft. Hanser Music Group purchased Michael Kelly in 2004 and has grown the brand as one of its many exclusive brands.

Michael Kelly Guitars was founded in 1999 with a focus on creating instruments that were unique in appearance and sonic performance. The brand quickly became known for its visually unique instruments and gained a strong market share in specialty areas including f-style mandolins and acoustic basses. Under the Hanser Music Group management, the selection increased.


New Canadian Sales & Service Team Announced for B&J Music

Following its purchase of B&J Music in February, Jam Industries has announced a new sales and service team for B&J. Headed by industry veteran David McAllister as vice president of B&J Music and operating from the facility in Baie D’Urfe, QC, the new team will take over on April 1, 2015.
