NAMM Releases 2015 Top 100 Dealers List; Includes 4 Canadians

Top 100 DealersThe National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has released the 2015 edition of its annual list of the Top 100 Dealers. The industry will celebrate the 2015 Top 100 Dealers, 2015’s Dealer of the Year, and seven other category winners during the Top 100 Dealer Awards Friday night, July 10 during Summer NAMM.

This year, there are four Canadian retailers that made the list. They are: Bluedog Guitars of North Vancouver, BC, L.A. Music of Mississauga, ON, Merriam Music of Oakville, ON, and Wentworth Music of Kelowna, BC.


Coast Music Awarded Vic Firth’s ‘Distributor of the Year’ Honour

Coast Music, a division of JAM Industries, has been awarded the 2014 North American Distributor of the Year from the Vic Firth Company. Despite the ongoing challenges within the percussion market, Vic Firth commended Coast Music on the continued support and sales effort that resulted in significant growth for the brand in Canada in 2014.

2015 NAMM Show - 30th Anniversary TEC AwardsRecording, audio,and music industry professionals honoured excellence in sound technology and creativity at the 30th Annual NAMM TEC Awards, held on Saturday, Jan. 24 in Anaheim, CA. The TEC Awards celebrate excellence in 30 creative and technical achievement categories. The awards are held annually during the NAMM Show, which draws more than 95,000 members of the music products industry to Anaheim.

Slash to Receive Les Paul Award at 30th TEC Awards

SlashIconic guitarist Slash will receive the prestigious Les Paul Award during the 30th Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, to be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 in Anaheim, CA. Comedian Sinbad will provide the laughs as the evening’s host. The NAMM TEC Awards honours individuals and companies across 30 categories, for outstanding achievement in professional audio technology and production.

The Les Paul Award, named for the revolutionary inventor and esteemed musician, honours individuals or institutions that have set the highest standards of excellence in the creative application of audio and music technology. Instituted in 1991, the award has been granted to luminaries including Pete Townshend, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Todd Rundgren, and Peter Gabriel.


Jack Long Receives Order of Canada Honour

The Order of Canada, one of our country’s highest civilian honours, was established in 1967, during Canada’s centennial year, to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.

This is a very special honour and richly deserved. Jack is being recognized for his engagement as a pioneer in Canada’s music retail and manufacturing industries who is committed to musicians, customers and employees across the country.
