Frederick was widely loved in the Canadian MI and drum communities, with a long career that saw him spend time at Erikson Music, Direct Music Supply, and then at Ayotte Drums as VP of business development from before joining SFM in 2013.
Many of Paul’s friends and colleagues have been sharing their fond memories on his Facebook page, including studio drummer and clinician, Jeff Salem, who wrote, “Paul was an incredible person that would make everyone laugh and smile. We began our friendship over 25 years [ago] as he was my artist rep for Pearl drums. We travelled and performed many clinics together as well as visited trade shows throughout North America. It was always a positive vibe and fun time being around Paul. He was loved by thousands and will be missed dearly.”
“Paul was an industry stallion, who ate, breathed, and slept drums, and his passion for everything drumming was, and shall remain, second to none!” wrote Brian Cymbaluk, the GM of Axe Music in Calgary. “Always smiling, always willing to talk ‘biz,’ always willing to see how we could make things better together… Paul brought a unique energy, attitude, and kindness to the drum biz.”
