Formerly the senior vice president of research and development for the Fender Musical instruments Corporation, Chapman will be responsible for product strategies at Fishman including enhancing new product development methodologies, new product conceptualization, advanced technology research, and assisting with artist relations.
Chapman earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University, has worked as an aerodynamics research faculty member at Arizona State University, and as an instrumentation engineer for NASA Dryden Flight Research Center (now known as the Armstrong Flight Center).
A musician who started playing guitar at the age of nine, he held many multi-discipline engineering positions at Fender with increasing responsibilities over 18 years, and has worked closely with top industry artists such as Eddie Van Halen, Geddy Lee, Buddy Guy, The Edge, and Dweezil Zappa.
“Fishman is clearly a top industry innovator and it is my absolute pleasure to apply my skills and experience to such a great company,” Chapman said. “There are so many possibilities for musicians with emerging technologies, especially as we work closely with artists at all levels to understand their true benefits. Fishman has always been boldly at the center of providing solutions and opportunities for musicians, and I’m very excited to be a part of that.”
Chief Operating Officer Jason Cambra added, “The addition of Keith to Fishman’s team is a bold step in helping solidify our future product offerings and technologies. In order to maintain Fishman’s leadership position in the market, we need to bring on new team members who have a proven track record of leadership, experience and success.”
