Montreal’s distinguished McGill University will be hosting its 2015 spring convocation in the coming weeks and during the scheduled ceremony on May 27th, Godin Guitars founder Robert Godin will be the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Music Degree (D.Mus., Music) from the university.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be honored this way, especially by a prestigious university such as McGill,” says Robert Godin. “Our ongoing collaboration this past year enabled us to do research we wouldn’t have been able to previously do as a private company.”

The research collaboration between Godin Guitars and CIRMMT (Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology) is a distinctive example of collaboration between an innovative industry and a leading research center.

The awarding of honorary degrees is a method by which the university expresses its highest ideals and standards, recognizing those individuals whose accomplishments are of such excellence that they provide inspiration and leadership.

“We are honouring 16 individuals with a diverse range of backgrounds, expertise and experience who are united by their exceptional contributions to improving the lives of so many,” says Principal Suzanne Fortier. “I am delighted that McGill is recognizing their vision, achievements and leadership by awarding them the university’s highest honour.”
