A concert fundraiser has been organized for Dec. 2 to raise money for Rick Gunn, an extraordinary Toronto-area guitarist who has been battling Myltiple Myloma since late summer 2011. As well, an online campaign has been started by Gunn’s family and friends through Kapipal with goal of raising $5,000 to help pay for his medicine, check-ups, tests, in-home care, and other costs that come with fighting this disease.
Gunn was admitted to Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital in August where he was given his long-awaited stem cell transplant. The prognosis is good but it will be long and costly path to recovery. Gunn’s family and friends raised $4595 with two previous Kapipal campaigns in the last year but treatment is expensive and with Gunn unable to ply his craft with his guitar, additional funds are much needed.
To donate money, go to http://www.kapipal.com/rickgunn2. All money goes directly towards Gunn’s ongoing medical costs and recovery.
The Bash for the Boogieman Take II fundraiser takes place on Dec. 2 at Revival Bar at 783 College St. in Toronto. There will be a silent auction, merchandise sales, and a 50/50 draw with all funds going towards Gunn’s medical care.
Bands and artists playing the bash include: Kick off the Covers, SPOC, Connie Scriver, Terry Draper, The Glenn Reid Band, and more.
