Canadian MI Veteran Jim Verwoerd Sets Up Crowdfunding Page to Help with Wife’s Cancer Treatment

Tuesday, August 16th, 2016

Jim and GailCanadian MI industry veteran Jim Verwoerd has announced the extremely sad news that his wife, Gail, was recently diagnosed with stage two cancer of the uterus. In an effort to be by her side while she undergoes extensive treatments, Jim has set up a crowdfunding page to help pay for Gail’s treatments and help him take the time necessary to support Gail while she recovers from surgeries.

In Jim’s statement on the Go Fund Me page, he writes:  “The reason we are seeking funding help is because we want to do everything possible to ensure Gail’s best chance of survival and recovery and allow me to be at home as much as possible to aid her post operation .  I am sure many of you have heard of various alternative clinics and treatments to fight cancer but are not covered under the BC Medical System. We are very keen on including alternative treatments as part of Gail’s game plan in this fight and have done enough research to understand and believe we would be negligent to not include these methods. What we are able to do in this regard will depend on how much financial assistance we can raise as it is always pricey . Currently , we have started working with the Integrated Health Clinic in Fort Langley under the care of Dr. Parmar”

Join the Music Industry in Standing Up for the CBC; Sign & Share the Petition

Friday, August 28th, 2015

Petition banner NEWFunding cuts are slowly killing the CBC, and with it the Canadian music industry. Canadian Musician magazine invites you to join us in taking a stance on this important issue by signing the petition at, sharing it, and spreading the message.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has been suffering from a series of funding cuts implemented by the federal government. The 2012 federal budget cut $115 million from the CBC’s budget over three years. While this has negative consequences for all Canadians as this national institution is forced to cut jobs and scale back its reach and scope, the country’s music and arts communities, in particular, stand to lose. In many cases, it’s already happening. But there’s something you can do.
