Nominations Now Accepted for the RPMDA’s 2017 Dorothy Award

Dorothy HutchinsonIt’s time once again to submit nominations for RPMDA’s “Dorothy” Award, named for Dorothy Hutchinson, former executive secretary/treasurer and charter member of RPMDA. During her too-brief life, she epitomized the finest that our industry has to offer, says the organization. Dorothy served her community and music education, she was an active participant in promoting good dealer/publisher relations, and was an ethical businessperson who generously shared information with her fellow dealers. Her example of hard work and high standards make the “Dorothy” Award RPMDA’s highest honour.

CMT Publisher Jim Norris Receives Special Service Award from NAMM

While at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA this weekend, Canadian Music Trade and Professional Sound Publisher Jim Norris was presented with a “Believe in Music” special service award by NAMM.

In presenting the award, NAMM Historian Dan Del Fiorentino said it was to recognize Jim’s “many years of excellent service in the music products industry” and for the support he has provided to the NAMM Oral History program.

In return, Jim thanks NAMM for its outstanding work and contributions to the MI and audio industry in North America.

On Saturday at 10 a.m. at the NAMM Member Center in the convention center lobby, the National Piano Foundation will be hosting free one-hour business round table for piano dealers, led by Alan Friedman of Friedman, Kannenberg & Co., and Jamie Blackman of Money Capsules.

MDA’s Show & Tell Day is a one-day, private table-top show of supplier member companies displaying exclusively for MDA distributor-buyer members.

Attendees at this year’s edition will be entered for a chance to win a C.F. Martin Dreadnought Jr. guitar, which will be given away at the end of the day. The winner must be in attendance to claim the prize.
