‘Steve’s Support Country’ Campaign Kicks Off With Performances, Giveaways, Live Broadcast & MoreMonday, June 15th, 2015
A first day of the ‘Steve’s Support Country’ summer campaign kicked off at Steve’s Music’s Queen St. West store on June 6th. The day featured the opening of the Country Corner and great performances by on-the-rise country singer-songwriter Alessia Cohle, who was also interviewed live from the store by radio station CIUT 89.5 FM. The performances and Steve’s Country Corner are part of the Steve’s Supports Country summer campaign, which is co-sponsored by the store and the Boots & Bourbon Saloon. The goal of the campaign is to support emerging Canadian country artists and the country music scene in and around Toronto.
“Our first Country Day was a success and a special thanks to Steve’s Music as without their support and their famous Queen St. location to showcase this country project, we wouldn’t have seen the great reaction from passersby, as opposed to a pre-booked festival with various entertainment,” says Ruth Dorey at Dorrian Promotions. “In a sense, this was our mini festival (our mini country festival), and once again, special thanks to Kevin Parker and Mike Kirman and the great support of co-sponsor Boots & Bourbon Saloon who also gave ten $25 gift certificates in honour of our first day and to Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine who also supplied complimentary magazines, which you can also pick up in the Country Corner at Steve’s Music Queen St. We look forward to announcing more dates soon and it will only get bigger and better for upcoming country artists and all artists to showcase their talent and perform at one the city’s most legendary music stores.”
Dorey adds, “We also had not one but two music industry associates in the audience at different times and one actually reached out to Alessia for some future opportunities. We are very happy as this was our goal to support country and help all artists to give them a chance.”
Cohle also tells CMT, “This experience was very exciting and quite unique for me. It was different from other interviews and performances I’ve done because of the combination of a live outdoor audience, live interview, launch of Steve’s Country Corner, and the energy I felt from the staff members at Steve’s and people passing by on Queen Street West stopping to listen. It was incredible! I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity and share my passion of music with everyone.”
Dorey would also like to thank Creatively Jinx Designs for creating the hand-painted wooden signs that adorn the Steve’s Country Corner.
