HHB Host Special Seminar With Producer David BottrillFriday, December 7th, 2012
HHB Canada, the Canadian distributor of Blue Microphones, hosted a special seminar in Toronto on Thursday, Dec. 6, with Grammy-winning producer David Bottrill. The event took place at the Harris Institute and featured some outstanding performances by guitarist Alistair Christl and his band.
Throughout the evening, Christl and his and band, which included a percussionist and an upright bass player, would perform songs while Bottrill recorded them using Blue Microphones’ high-end studio mics and mic preamp. Bottrill – who has worked with a staggering array of highly accomplished bands including Muse, Tool, Peter Gabriel, and Kid Rock – would playback the recordings for the audience and take questions on studio techniques, microphone placement, and anything else that came to mind.
It was a free event and well attended with standing room only for the second session. Bottrill seemed to be having a good time, interacting with the audience and testing out the wide array of mics. A Blue Microphones Spark condenser mic was given out in a random draw and presented by HHB President Dave Dysart.
