NAMM 2012 Video RecapThursday, January 26th, 2012
At show close, NAMM reported 95,709 registered attendees, a six percent increase from last year and representing a new record for the 110-year-old show. This fact was noted on the show floor as attendees remarked how busy the show was this year compared to the most recent shows. A positive sign for the industry, no doubt.
Major trends included the integration of the iPad and other mobile devices into products, utilizing the touchscreen interface and processing power. APPs for said devices were also very prevalent. Additionally, a new breed of “smart” guitars, featuring internal DSP and modulation and tricked-out pickups, will be making their way into music stores shortly.
